July's Animal of the Month

Cheetahs prey on small to medium-sized animals, including hares, impalas, wildebeest calves, and gazelles. Due to their size, strength, and hunting abilities, some scientists classify cheetahs as one of the "big cats," alongside tigers, lions, leopards, and jaguars. However, unlike the others, cheetahs cannot roar but can purr.

Cheetahs typically inhabit open grasslands but can be found in various habitats across eastern and southern Africa. Historically, cheetahs roamed throughout Asia and Africa, but now they are facing extinction due to habitat loss and a decrease in their prey.
